ABSTRACT
The extracts were thought to be insoluble in water but soluble in an organic solvent. After
measurement, the yield percentage was determined to be 5.56% w/w. The resulting Hibiscus rosa
sinensis petroleum ether extract had an astringent texture, was light to dark green in color, and was
oily with a vague smell. The extracts were thought to be insoluble in water but soluble in an organic
solvent. The percentage yield was measured and set at 6.23% w/w. A straightforward chemical
test was used to screen the crude petroleum ether extract of Calotropis gigantea and Hibiscus rosa
sinensis for the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, carbohydrates, proteins, starches,
amino acids, steroids, tannins, and saponins.
